Braemore to Ardmair: Walking, Wheeling & Cycling Route

Braemore to Ardmair: Walking, Wheeling & Cycling Route

Following on from Lochbroom and Ullapool Community Trust’s (LUCT) Sustaining Choices consultation earlier this year, LUCT are in the process of creating a continuous walking, wheeling and cycling (known as ‘active travel’) route in the Lochbroom area. Wheeling refers to an alternative means of travel to foot / pedestrian based mobility, such as travel by wheelchair, mobility scooter or wheeled walker.

The route will create a safe and attractive environment for walking, wheeling, and cycling, making active travel the obvious choice for everyday journeys undertaken by the communities along the A835 and Loch Broom.

Share your views

The route would run from Braemore Junction to Ardmair, linking with Inverbroom, Leckmelm and Ullapool. By sharing your feedback at this early stage, we can ensure that the Braemore to Ardmair walking, wheeling, and cycling route reflects the needs and ambitions of the local community.

The community engagement is now live and will close at 23:59 on Sunday 6th August 2023

Public Drop in sessions

On Tuesday 27th June and Wednesday 28th June 2023, we held two public drop-in sessions, where members of the public met the project team to find out more about the project vision and stage of the project. In total, 45 people attended across the two days.

Thank you to everyone who gave their time to attend these events and provided their views.

If you were unable to attend these events, you can still ask the project team questions and provide your feedback via the online survey and email address; these details are outlined below.

About the Braemore to Ardmair Walking, Wheeling, and Cycling Route

Lochbroom and Ullapool Community Trust (LUCT) are in the process of creating a walking, wheeling, and cycling (known as ‘active travel’) route between Braemore and Ardmair.  Wheeling refers to an alternative means of travel to foot/pedestrian-based mobility, such as travel by wheelchair, mobility scooter or wheeled walker.

The review of the existing active travel provision along the A835 at Loch Broom highlighted that the area could benefit from a new walking, wheeling, and cycling route. At this early stage of the project, no designs have been created, meaning you can help shape the future of active travel in your local area. Sharing your views helps us understand what matters to you.

The community engagement is now live and will run for six weeks, closing at 23:59 on Sunday 6 August 2023.

If you have questions about this project or would like to sign-up for updates on future engagement opportunities, please email TellUs-LUCT@sweco.co.uk

Funding for the project was awarded by Sustrans through Places for Everyone. Places for Everyone is an active travel infrastructure programme supported by the Scottish Government and administered by Sustrans.ork to do.
