The firefighting backpacks were purchased and are now installed at three locations along the peninsula ready and waiting in case of fire. While we have been lucky that this year the local muir burning didn’t threaten our peninsula as it has in previous years, we have had a long period without any rain (hard to believe now I know) and it has been really reassuring for everyone to know that we have the backpacks on hand. The community continues to work towards a comprehensive firefighting plan for ourselves and we have just ordered some large tanks to locate along the peninsula in key locations. In future we may consider if an emergency vehicle with tender and pump, would be a worthwhile addition to our emergency response and would seek to fundraise for that project.
