Playpark at the Community Centre

Playpark at the Community Centre

After much deliberation, for the playpark at the Community Centre we purchased a swing and climbing frame, slide set and over a series of volunteer days through the winter, have successfully installed the play equipment. We had some fun and games along the way especially with drainage as when we levelled some of the site in preparation, we uncovered a spring which provided the site with significant amounts of water and a serious mud bath ensued.

This was great fun for the young ones who were helping but somewhat challenging for getting the right founds in place and then making a useable surface thereafter. The second attempt at drainage seems to have done the trick. We still have plans to make a sandpit area underneath the elevated house and to create a willow tunnel and some wooden balancing structures, but for the time being the playground as it stands is being very much enjoyed by the children in our community. I attach a few photos of the volunteer days and of it mostly finished but haven’t yet got a snap with the children enjoying it. We are chuffed to bits with it!!! Thank you.

It has been a great experience for us to be involved with UCT and the Loch Broom 3D Fund and we hope we can work together again in the future.
