New Broom Solar
Thanks to Highlands and Islands Climate Hub funding (a CLLD grant) we now have solar panels providing power for the New Broom. Installed on 19th Feb 2026 they have been generating power and saving us money even on grey days. Our monthly electricity bill is usually about £220 in March it was just £66, half of which was the standing charge! As a local charity the lower our running costs the more we can plough back into local initiatives.
Like many retailers we have our lights on all day and our wee shop is north facing. Over the coming months we will show you our usage and savings, hopefully encouraging others to look for a greener solution to their energy needs.
